The Sokolowski's purchased the property at 570 Grooms road in 1974 from Alice and Orlin Harris. Two small greenhouses were located on the property. The business started as a small weekend, seasonal effort. For the first serveral years we sold out completely during one or two weekends. As the demand increased for Impatiens, which was our specialty, Bernie started to build greenhouses. Today we have fifteen greenhouses. Three are used for retail sales and the remaining are strictly for growing our products. Three neighbors and Bernie's mother and mother-in-law helped prepare the products for sale by transplanting and working days and weekends until the plants were finished. In the late 1990s, Greg Sokolowski attended SUNY Cobleskill. After completing his education he decided to join his dad in the business. By this time the business had grown and needed an additional full time person. Today, the Sokolowski family works hard to provide the Clifton Park residents and many nearby cities and towns high quality "locally grown" products at a reasonable cost. We strive to provide our customers the largest variety of annuals, perennials, mixed hanging baskets, and vegetable plants.
